Consulting and how to use it.
Many people ask me what is health consulting?
Within my scope and expertise, I consult on several topics as follows:
Wellness, Lifestyle, Behavioral Modification, Nutrition, and Advanced Care Planning
1. I have consulted on case reviews of medical scenarios to give an unbiased opinion and help provide education and counseling on advocacy and perspective on the scenario. I am not a legal expert and do not pretend to be one and will not provide consulting review for medical cases that are subject to legal review. In Many cases clients feel overwhelmed with their health, need additional advice on what questions to ask their specialists and are usually rushed to be able to comprehend what they are being told in their short medical providers visit that they feel lost when they leave the office.
2. I consult to help guide people on the medical aspect of their advanced directives and living wills in the setting of understanding their wishes in the setting of their knowledge of their goals and their chronic conditions. We discuss what a full code means and other measures that would potentially be carried out medically in certain scenarios and we discuss if those measures are something they want. With my expertise and experience dealing with the critically ill and chronically ill patient population, I have read very basic advanced directives. This gives the family who has to make decisions for that individual very difficult to have to decipher unclear information. On the contrary sometimes the details and options medically have never been fully explained to the patient, the living will or advanced directive is very generic, and patient's have no understanding on meaningful recovering in certain scenarios. This consulting and education can render a more educated patient/client, families are more prepared, and you have an iron clad document that protects your wishes. I try to facilitate a challenging conversation and decision making into an open conversation, because the reality is that we all die and we want to make sure our wishes are respected and known.
3. Wellness consulting in the setting of wellness, nutritional, and behavioral modification to render mental and physical improvement. It is more inclusive to what is widely known as health coaching in some sense with more emphasis on a holistic approach that is tailored to that person's desires/needs.
